The 1999 running of the Steamboat Marathon began with a 5 am phone call informing me that I would need my ski jacket to make it to the race.  Questioningly, I opened the window only to find it snowing on June 6th.  With six inches of fresh snow at the start of the marathon and snow capped peaks at the start of the half marathon the day began a bit cooler than most had anticipated.  By the finish many people had a plethora of clothes tied around their waists while others had opted to ditch their clothes at the aid stations along the course.   Results for all of the races are as follows:

Jason Saitta from Thornton, Colorado won the men's marathon with a time of 2:41:23. 
Cindy Enochs of Boulder, Colorado won the women's marathon with a time of 3:10:22. 
There were 454 finishers in the marathon.

Hector Hernandez-Salazer of Boulder won the men's half marathon with a time of 1:11:26.
Winning the women's half marathon was Bridget Dunn of Denver with a time of 1:29:36. 
There were 756 finishers in the half marathon.

Finishing first in the men's 10K run was Peter Williams of Fort Collins, Colorado with a time of 32:34. 
Natalie Davey of Boulder won the women's 10K run with a 37:58 time. 
There were 492 finishers in the 10K run.

Sixty-seven participants finished the 10K walk. 
Dan Pierce from Boulder won the men's 10K walk in 55:47.
Patti Stubler from Grand Junction, Colorado won the women's 10K walk with a time of 1:13:23.
