2012 Howelsen 8-Miler

Let the trail races begin!! Challenging trail run on the scenic single track trails of historic Howelsen Hill, Steamboat's outdoor playground. This race is a beautiful loop on Emerald mountain starting cross country on the Bluff's trail, heading uphill on the Lupine trail and finishing downhill at the base of the historic Howelson Hill Ski Area. The trails of Emerald are beautiful this time of year with abundant aspen trees and wildflowers. The Howelsen 8-Miler race will also include a 4-M race as well. The 8 mile race is also part of the Trail Runner Magazine Trophy Series. 

When: Saturday, July 14th, 2012. Race begins at 8:00am.

Where: Start is at Olympian Hall

Entry fee includes: Great food form Winona's , raffle drawings for entrants, and prizes for winners

Registration: Pre-register online or at Ski Haus in Steamboat Springs.  Register early to ensure an entry gift and please remember that post race food is for runners and volunteers only. Runners will pick up bibs the morning of the race. Day of registration from 7-7:30 am

Course Description(s): Beginning at Olympian Hall the run will take you throughout the Howelsen Hill trail network of new and established trails. Following the twisting and climbing single track trails to the rock quarry and back down the eye to eye trail for the finish. All running will be on trails and the course will be well marked with one main aid station at the top of the climb. To help reduce cup waste, we highly recommend carrying your own hydration bottle or pack, thank you!
