25th Annual Spirit Challenge

This is a fundraising event for the Legacy Education Foundation, a program that helps fund Educational Opportunities in the Yampa River Valley.

What: 10k and 5k running races on paved roads and track. This is the 1st race of the year for the Steamboat Springs Running Series and a great warm up to summer! The Spirit Challenge is a long standing race in the SSRS and gives runners a chance to get those feet moving after a long winter in the Yampa Valley. Come out and support this fun local race. 

When: Saturday, May 15, 2010
           10:00 am

Where: Steamboat Springs Middle School, 5100 Amethyst Drive

Registration: Pre-register online or at Ski Haus in Steamboat Springs.  Races are open to all ages. Free t-shirt with registration.  Extra t-shirts available for $10 the day of the race.  Register early to ensure an entry gift and please remember that post race food is for runners and volunteers only.

Awards: Prizes abound for racers and volunteers due to the continued generosity of local merchants and supporters throughout Routt County.  Announcement of the top three positions in each category of 5k Men, 5k Women, 10k Men, 10k Women will be made immediately following the completion of the event.  The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place positions will receive a fine gift, donated from local merchants.  The remaining adult gifts will be awarded by random drawing.

Course Descriptions:

• 5k run is a scenic, rolling on and off road loop
• 10k is an out uphill and back downhill through Strawberry Park.

Aid Stations: Provided at 10K turnaround

Pets: Leashed pets welcome.
