2017 Hayden Cog Run
NEW! The Hayden Cog is going cupless. In an effort to be more sustainable our races are going cupless. Please bring your own water bottle or hydration pack to run with. We will have water jugs that you can use to fill your water device before, during and after the race.
This is one of the longest consecutively run races of the series and the state of Colorado! A Routt County Classic held in the small town of Hayden Colorado 25 minutes west of Steamboat.
Distances: 8.4 mile and 5K on paved roads. There will also be a 1 mile Kid's Fun Run that will benefit the Hayden Valley Elementary Health and Wellness Team.
Race Date/Time: Saturday, May 6th, 2017. 8.4M and 5K races start at 10:00 am. 1M Kid's Fun Run starts at 10:40 am.
Location: All runners assemble at the Hayden Town Park on S 3rd Street
Registration: Pre-Register ONLINE ONLY for 8.4M and 5K run. NEW in 2017 is the addition of a No-Frills race registration option which is slightly less expensive, includes post-race food and entry in the prize drawing but does not include race schwag. On-site registration will be available between 9:00 and 9:45 am on race day but only those registered online by Wed. April 26th are guaranteed a shirt in their size. Those registering after Wed. April 26th are not guaranteed a shirt. Register early and please remember that post race food is for runners and volunteers only. Registration for the 1M Kid's Fun Run will only be available on-site between 9 am and 9:45 am the morning of the race, and will be done on a donation basis to benefit the Hayden Valley Elementary Health and Wellness Team.
What you receive: Entry gift (Frills registration only), great food, prizes for winners and a prize drawing.
Awards & Prizes: The top three male & female winners in each race will receive an award. A drawing for merchandise and gift certificates will be held following the race. All entrants are eligible and must be present to win.
The Cog Run is a challenging 8.4 mile out and back course on Routt County Road #76. This race has approximately 3 miles of steep uphill and 3 miles of steep downhill slope with the turnaround point at the top of the Hayden Cog. Race offers spectacular views of the Yampa Valley.
5k run is out and back with rolling hills south of Hayden on County Road #53.
Aid Stations: One water station provided for on the 8.4 mile course ONLY, no aid station for the 5k. If you will need extra water please bring water that you can carry with you.
Pets: Not advisable for the Hayden Cog Run, considered for the 5k
