Cut-offs: The 16 mile race has over 3,500 ft. of elevation gain, with the high point on the course at 10,420 ft. Rough estimates for the 50K are 5,500 ft. of elevation gain, with much of the distance covered at or above 10,000 ft. The safety of our runners is our number one concern. Due to the popularity of this race and the remoteness on parts of the trail system, we have in the past enforced a strict 4-hour cut-off rule for the 16 mile race.  This year we can extend that cutoff to 7 hours since we have an added longer race. The 50K cut-off time will be 9 hours. Please make sure that you are able to finish this in the time frame. ***** We are all volunteer staff and for your safety we cannot have any runners out past that time.

Special Considerations: In an effort to put on a more sustainable trail running race, we have eliminated all cups from both race courses. Be prepared to carry your own water on the course and to refill your device at the aid stations.

Awards and Post Race:

Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place males and females.

Age group awards have been added for the 50k and 16M races!

We will also have finisher medals for the 50k and 16M

Every participant is automatically entered in our prize raffle, which will follow the awards ceremony.

Parking:

Due to construction blocking the free parking lot at the knoll that we typical utilize, here are your options for parking:

The race starts and ends in Ski Time Square on the Torian Plum grass area in front of Slopeside.

1. Free parking at Meadows Lot. It is a 0.75 walk to the start/finish area at Torian Plum Plaza. We will also have a shuttle running between the Meadows Lot and Torian Plum (leaving every 10-15 minutes from the Meadows Lot) from 5-5:45 and 7-7:45 AM. 20-22 people at a time can get on any given bus. This bus is generously donated for the day by our friends at the Steamboat Mountain School.

2. Paid parking ($15 per day) at 2 parking garages at the intersection of Mt. Werner Circle and Ski Times Square Drive. One block walk to the start/finish area, very close.

3. Get dropped off at the start/finish area.

4. Walk, bike, or take Steamboat’s free bus.

5. PLEASE CARPOOL

Pets: Leashed dogs are welcome on the 5 mile mile courses only.  Please be courteous at the start when the field is in close proximity on the narrow single track.

Weather Policy: We have updated our weather policy to include the monsoons of 2014.  Therefore, we will run in rain or shine or snow but we will not run on the trails when conditions threaten the safety of our runners and/or when the runner’s feet threaten the delicate trail system that we operate on.  Decisions to cancel the race will never be taken lightly and will only be a last resort.
