*Due to last minute course changes because of the mountain construction, we do not have an accurate .GPX file showing exact distance or elevation profile.  Think of this as an opportunity to embrace the original culture of trail running and adventure. The new route is likely a shorter and steeper climb and a slightly shorter descent that does not involve as much rolling as the old descent.  We look forward to a day of fun, challenge, and camaraderie!

Cut-offs: The 16 mile race has over 3,500 ft. of elevation gain, with the high point on the course at 10,420 ft. Rough estimates for the 50K are 5,000 ft. of elevation gain, with much of the distance covered at or above 10,000 ft. The safety of our runners is our number one concern. Due to the popularity of this race and the remoteness on parts of the trail system, we have in the past enforced a strict 4-hour cut-off rule for the 16 mile race.  This year we can extend that cutoff to 7 hours since we have an added longer race. The 50K cut-off time will be 9 hours.

Special Considerations: In an effort to put on a more sustainable trail running race, we have eliminated all cups from both race courses. Be prepared to carry your own water on the course and to refill your device at the aid stations.

Driving Directions/Parking Information:

Parking is recommended at The Knoll parking lot near Steamboat Ski Area base.  With the Start & Finish located at Steamboat Ski Area base this year, no shuttles will be necessary.

Awards and Post Race:

Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place males and females (No age group awards)

Every participant is automatically entered in our prize raffle, which will follow the awards ceremony.

Friends and Family: Encourage your friends and family to come out and cheer you on.  Food, snacks, and refreshments are offered for participants only.

Pets: Leashed dogs are welcome on the 5 mile and 16 mile courses only.  Please be courteous at the start when the field is in close proximity on the narrow single track.

Weather Policy: We have updated our weather policy to include the monsoons of 2014.  Therefore, we will run in rain or shine or snow but we will not run on the trails when conditions threaten the safety of our runners and/or when the runner’s feet threaten the delicate trail system that we operate on.  Decisions to cancel the race will never be taken lightly and will only be a last resort.
